Lewisham Under Water – Share your memories of the Great Flood of 1968 or local rivers and waterways
Over 50 years ago, in September 1968, Lewisham was under water from a huge storm and flooding including from the Quaggy and Ravensbourne rivers.
What happened and why?
Using amazing archive pictures Emily Hay (who remembers the floods as a child and who has gathered together local memories and photos) and Paul Browning (local history blogger aka ‘Running Past’) will look at what happened then and encourage a discussion of what happened next and what flood risk looks like now.
