Most of the time we perceive noise as a problem. From road traffic and aircraft to noisy neighbours, we’re surrounded by sounds in towns.
Professor Drever will challenge how we perceive the urban ‘soundscape’ and will introduce the idea of the ‘Acoustic Ecology’ of our physical environment from buildings and hard surfaces birds, buses and trees to people and the weather.
Expect to gain a new appreciation of sounds as a positive resource, connecting us and creating for us a new sense of the place where we spend most of our time.
